Ann Curry
Ann Curry is a photojournalist as well as a journalist, author and has reported on war zones for the past forty-five years. Her research focuses on human suffering as well as disasters. Curry was a reporter for the wars within Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry, (born November 19th, 1956 in Agana American journalist and TV anchor and news reporter who was most well-known for her role as a correspondent for the Today program, which was a morning news program that was broadcast through the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry's reporting was notable for its coverage of humanitarian emergencies that took place in war-torn nations and natural disasters. Curry's Japanese-American mother as well as her U.S. Navy-sailor dad played prominent roles in her life. Following World War II, her parents met during her father's service in Japan. Because of her father's military service, her family has moved several times. Curry was able to complete her high schooling within Ashland Oregon. Following her graduation from the University of Oregon, Curry received a bachelor degree in journalism in 1978. She was exposed to diverse cultures and situations during her growing up years probably contributed to her empathy in her approach to international topics. Curry's family was often moving and Curry didn't stay at one school longer than 2 months. Curry attended various schools like San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia and Virginia. Ashland in Oregon is the school where Curry earned her diploma. Her career in broadcasting began with an internship at KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. at the age of 22 she became the first female journalist at that station. In Portland in Oregon, she was appointed anchor and reporter by KGW NBC's affiliate. Four years later, she relocated into Los Angeles and became a reporter for KCBS TV. The two Emmy Awards were won during her time with the KCBS-TV.
